If you turn this online mode on, the game will continuously take track of the progress of your friends. Talking about modes from the past, Autolog also makes its return. Perhaps itвЂ™s because the gameвЂ™s age where adding a lot of differences into playable cars wasnвЂ™t that easy, it still results in a fun but rather straightforward experience today. If you time your braking and use of nitro precise enough, you can basically win each race, no matter which car you used to do so. Perhaps itвЂ™s because I donвЂ™t really care that much for cars in real life but I was a bit disappointed in the fact that the differences between your car are barely noticeable while racing. Every type of race gives you the option to pick your favorite car but as the game is literally throwing new cars at you at an incredibly high pace, you start to lose interest in what they can do. Having a lot of playable cars is great of course but I do have the feeling the car doesnвЂ™t really matter that much. That being said, the content does provide a lot of fun, with every car of the original release, including its DLC, youвЂ™ll have a lot of racing options here. The physics are loosely based on reality but never expect a lot of realism here, itвЂ™s an arcade racer pur sang and itвЂ™s one of the better ones on the market. Of course, take note that this isnвЂ™t a realistic racer so you can easily crash your opponentвЂ™s cars or if youвЂ™re not careful even your own car. The natural flow of the races and the challenge of beating your opponents and the police forces just results in an extremely addictive racing experience. Being chased by the police and escaping all the traps they lay in front of you while still trying to end up first really gets that adrenaline flowing. There are tons of races to compete and to make everything more thrilling, youвЂ™ll have to escape from the law in some races. With an open-map filled with events for you to explore, you wonвЂ™t be bored at all. Hot Pursuit is a great entry in the Need for Speed franchise and perhaps still even the best entry that ever released. But what about the gameplay? Well, itвЂ™s here where the game truly shines, even after all those years. ItвЂ™s clear to say that the game does deliver when it comes to the graphical department, although itвЂ™s not as pretty as modern racers. Since this is a racing game, I didnвЂ™t really understand why a quality mode was an option, as itвЂ™s clearly not the best way to play this new version of Hot Pursuit at all. If you go for the quality mode, youвЂ™ll have some extra nice graphical elements but those come at the cost of your refresh rate.

This is by far the most important improvement in the Remastered version, taking the game to new heights and resulting in a way smoother overall experience. Performance mode is the most crucial one here as it will enable you to race at a 60fps refresh rate, which worked surprisingly well on my Xbox One X. Like many games today, you can switch between performance and quality mode to give you the best possible way of playing the game. That being said, the game still carries over the same feeling of the original release and performs pretty well. In all honesty, you wonвЂ™t really see much of the actual map since youвЂ™re racing at an incredible speed, but once you do take the time to look around, youвЂ™ll see that not all textures are as good as they should be. ItвЂ™s a shame Seacrest County didnвЂ™t get the same treatment as itвЂ™s clearly showing its age when you look around you. ItвЂ™s clear a lot of polishing went to the car models and it really paid off. But, thatвЂ™s nothing to worry about, all things considered, all cars look extremely realistic and match the standards of modern games today. The cars all look detailed and shiny although theyвЂ™ll never look as good as in, letвЂ™s say, the modern Forza Horizon games. Right from the start, youвЂ™ll notice that the team really tried hard to make a ten-year-old game look on par with nowadayвЂ™s standards. Before we dive further into the gameplay elements, letвЂ™s first address the most crucial part of any remaster: the graphics. Since this is a Remastered version of the game, you wonвЂ™t have access to a new map but travel back to the open-map of Seacrest County where thereвЂ™s plenty to do. ItвЂ™s no surprise that EA decided it was time to give this game a second life with a Remastered version, but is it any good? LetвЂ™s find out!

The combination of a high-paced arcade racer and the constant fight against the police forces made Hot Pursuit an instant classic and fan-favorite. Criterion Games developed the original release and had tons of experience thanks to the Burnout franchise. When Need for Speed Hot Pursuit first launched way back in 2010, it was considered one of the best arcade racers ever created.
